No "silent" system notification option?

I use handcent exclusively and don't want to hear the system sounds played along with my custom sounds in handcent but don't see a way to choose silent as an option and don't want to change profiles or anything cumbersome like that. This was an option on my fascinate. Anybody?

if its not an option in handcent, you can always get tasker app and set it up there. i';ve recently learned that you can automate just about any task in the android os using tasker - it's a pretty amazing tool. totally worth its price, if not more.

Figured it out. You have to go into settings on the native messaging app and disable from there, not the phones settings. My bad lol
