Not quite sure what the whole sequence was that got me here, but I think this is where I want to be... in a place where I can get helpful answers about using the Galaxy Nexus phones I just bought for my wife and I. Perhaps later down the line will be able to pass along what I've learned to some others.
Why smart-phones and why now?
As we are back and forth between Germany and the USA, we have, for years, been watching for developments in the cell phone world that would allow us to get one phone that could be easily used in both worlds, without the need to be tied to one phone service. Further we have been really frustrated with how best to keep our calendars in sync. With unlocked Android phones, both of those challenges have been met. With the help of a tech-savvy son, we were steered to these Samsung phones as the right choice for us. I bought them via Amazon, and a friend from Switzerland picked them up from our son in Nashville and brought them to Europe.
It has only been a few weeks now. We use the data features only through our at-home WiFi network. Still waiting for the transfer of our German phone numbers to our new service provider. In the meantime I'm trying to make sense of how to work with all the different possibilities and connectivity issues - mine to my MacBook, my wife' with her Win7 Dell. Immediately upon registering I see there are an overwhelming number of forums and information sources here. I don't like learning curves; can't imagine starting out into the hi-tech world as an adult today. So thankful I got my start back in 1980.
Today's question is "For what is that 100ANDRO subfolder used, which is inside of .DCIM directory?" That was the initial step in the sequence (over an hour ago) that got me on the path to registering here. I can't afford more time now to look further. Perhaps someone will point me in the right direction. Otherwise, I will probably be on the lookout for users who, like us, work their phones in a dual language manner. We need to quickly switch between German and English -- keyboards, voice commands, etc.
