Also software updates, how fast will this company update their SW if at all?

I would file that under customer support.

The Xoom so far has proven to be underwhelming at best. You couldn't sell me one for more than $200. It isn't that impressive compared to the iPad2.

Actually, the Xoom has PROVEN to be impressive when directly compared to the iPad2 except in GPU performance. In OS, UI, CPU, web-surfing, customization, task-switching and notifications it's superior.

Alant40 , you have your reasons for not liking ios, Glad to see you did try it.
While ios does have benefits , there are a couple annoying aspects.
Once jailbroken thosse go away though... Diskmode mainly my main gripe.

The Xoom or Tab may be good devices.
Many people (Myself Included) that have tried Android would not purchase another Android device again.

Hope the Android tablet performs better for you

Rindaen:

I've been down the Jailbreak road with my previously owned IPhone 3G. Your right; jail breaking is the way to go. And I know people are rooting the Droids to. But after playing with the Xoom at my local Verizon store, I just got hooked. As the other poster stated; the UI and customization features are top notch. I'm a little concerned about the apps though. I'm no developer, but I can't imagine it will be easy with so many different sized tablets coming out. 7, 10, 10.1; you get my drift. And I am certainly no Apple basher. I LOVE Apple Tv. Nothing comes close to that little black box....

I'm confused with your links and don't think you read them...They clearly show that the Ipad2 beats the XOOM. Maybe you're looking at the benchmarks for the original ipad? The second link you provided:

Javascript Benchmark - Ipad2 is better
Rightware Browsermark - Xoom wins
Avg pageload - Ipad2 wins
Anandtech pageload - ipad2 wins
amazon.com pageload - ipad2 wins
Cnn.com pageload - xoom wins...by 4ms...yes...4ms
Digg.com pageload - Ipad2 wins
Engadget pageload - ipad2 wins
facebook pageload - ipad2 wins
nytimes pageload - ipad2 wins
reddit.com pageload - ipad2 wins
GPL Benchmark - ipad2 wins
Display brightness white - ipad2 wins
Display brightness black - ipad2 beats xoom
display contrast - ipad2 beats xoom

in your 3rd link, it's comparing the Xoom to the original ipad...

and finally your first link which looked at page loads:

cnet.com - 5 seconds for the xoom, 6 for the ipad2
cbsnews.com - 6seconds for the xoom, 10 for the ipad2
giantbomb.com - 5seconds for both...

your first link tests many more websites and ipad wins in all of them...so...no it's not just GPU performance...
