pick up a copy of z4root and it's as simple as 1 click. however not everything is that easy so be sure to do a lot of reading before you try anything else. one sec i'll get a link for you.
 
i had the droid 2....till i dropped in the toilet lol (i never thought i'd do that) but they gave me the droid global saying it has a faster processor.idk but it seems slow and is little bit different still trying to figure it out
 
z4root.1.3.0.apk

there's a link for you to download z4root. after you download it place it on your phone's sd card. then go home>settings>applications and check unknown sources. then go in to development and check ub debugging. then find the apk fle on your sd card and install it and once it finishes installing open it up and hit the permanent root button.
