You can also get an app from the play store called: WiFi File Transfer, there are several offerings of this type of app.
If you have Bluetooth on your laptop as well as phone, you can transfer files this way as well.
I use Bluetooth to swap files from my tablet to my phone, and reverse, never fails to function 100%.
