New User for Android Ally

Does anyone know how to set the indicator light so that when texts/e-mails are received, the light will flash. I had the droid and it did this on its own, but when I started using the new phone (Android Ally), I don't know how to set it so that the light flashes to indicate new notifications. Any help would be greatly apreciated.
