New to forums and New Droid X

I just got my droid on December 2. I was getting pretty anxious waiting to get my X. Its a pretty sweet phone. Main reason I am getting on the forums is because I want to remove the default apps that came on the phone. They take up so much space and I find them rather annoying. I also want to learn a bunch more about the phone. I keep hearing things about Froyo and Gingerbread and rooting the phone. So I am interested in finding out more about that stuff.

It appears to me is that Froyo is an operation system and Gingerbread changes what your home screen looks like and acts.
