New Rom Need Help

So im not sure if this question is already on the site but im pretty new and plus i tried looking for it and couldnt find it so sorry in advance if this is already out there but to my problem,

I followed some tutorial on how to root my droid which seemed to work totally fine, I had downloaded the bootstrap and i recovered my phone before anything. Then I wanted to get a ROM but I didnt have a computer to use with it because im not totally sure if my usb cord can even get me files off my computer. Im not so good at that kind of stuff. But anyways, I ended up messing up and recovering a lot from not installing the right file onto my sd card but then I ended up finding a good tutorial and installing Liberty. It all seemed pretty good, looked right, and then i realized not all my apps nor any of my contacts were on my phone. And also the Bootstrap app was gone as well. So i reinstalled it and the recovery from before was still there and I tried doing it and it ended up just taking me back to where my phone was before i installed the new rom which makes sense but im hoping to find a way to just get atleast all my contacts back or if so also all the apps i had installed.

Now i know this is super long but i wanted to give all the details of what i did so hopefully someone can tell me what i maybe did wrong? Thanks for your time.

What do you mean when you say you recovered your phone? Do you mean you made a backup through ClockworkMod Recovery?

Yes, your USB cable can be used to transfer files between your phone's SD card and your computer. If you use ADB or a program like Droid Explorer, you can even access files on your phone's internal storage.

By default, your apps and contacts should be synced with your Google account. To check if your apps are synced, go into Settings -> Privacy and see if "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore" are checked. (If they are, and Android still hasn't restored your apps, then I'm sorry to say that your apps probably haven't been synced with your Google account. Personally, I like to turn this option off and manually reinstall apps whenever I install a new ROM, but that's just me.)

To check if your contacts are synced, go into Settings -> "Accounts and sync" and make sure that Auto-sync is checked. Then tap on your Google account and make sure that "Sync Contacts" is checked. If you use GMail, your Android contacts and your GMail contacts should be synced with each other.

And also the Bootstrap app was gone as well.

You don't need the Bootstrap app, as that functionality is already included in the Liberty Toolbox ("Reboot Options" -> "Reboot Bootstrap").

Yes, that's to be expected.

Ok. Thanks a lot. And yeah, when the first turn on of my phone with the new Rom, every time I put in a new contact, it asked to sync with gmail account. But when i had the stock rom (Blur or w.e) it had never asked me about that so maybe my gmail app wasnt up to date or what ever. But overall thank you at least I know from now on :)

Blur didn't stay on my phone for long enough for me to find out whether or not it did sync contacts or anything else with my Google account. :)
