I just joined the forum on Friday. I found it while searching for a question about rooting a Droid 1 with 2.2 and build FRG22D. I am an avid Unix user and wanted to see if I could use Ubuntu 10.04 to root my phone. It turns out I can. Wish me luck.

Welcome! Good to have you with us. If I read your post correctly, you successfully rooted your phone using Ubuntu. If that is the case, it would be very helpful if you provide us the steps.

Thanks for wishing me luck everyone, because it worked! I now have a rooted phone. To go a step further I posted my steps to rooting the Droid. I hope this helps. I included pictures too! So here is a link to the post:
