Hi folks ... I got my Droid X in July when they were still pretty new and I've loved it. First smartphone i've ever owned. I'm not a real technically inclined person to be honest but I can't resist tinkering, so I've messed around with the phone a good deal. This forum's been very useful to me at times when I got confused, but I've never posted. So let me start out by just saying thanks for all the help in the past that i've never actually acknowledged ...

Now I'm actually registering because I have a problem that really stumped me. Seems like my phone can't see or recognize its SD card any more, even though the SD card itself still seems to be working fine. I'm about to post a full description of the problem over in the Droid X technical issues forum. I've searched through the forums here and on other boards and I can't find anything that sounds quite like my issue.

Anyhow, thanks to everybody here for being so clear and helpful. seems like a great community.

Welcome! Sorry you are having issues with your SD card. Did you make any changes or add an app to the SD card just prior to this issue?

You may need to reformat the card. I would copy the contents to your computer reformat and begin copying the contents back. If possible, I would only copy segments of the original card back and see if that works.

Please let us know how you resolve.

Mike

I read that you installed Vcast. I'm not positive but I recall another member having the same issue after installing Vcast. Have you tried uninstalling to see if that rectifies the issue. The other option is to uninstall the apps that you have on the SD card (uninstall in reverse order beginning with the last one you installed) to see if that rectifies the issue.

Actually no. I didn't install VCAST. I was prompted to do so but i skipped it. And about uninstalling, the crazy thing is that at the moment it seems I CANNOT uninstall anything that's on the SD card. The uninstallation screen appears, the "barbershop" progess bar shows up, and then it just hangs. But I detailed all this on the other post I put up, on the Droid X technical forum. Sorry for the confusion in putting up two posts -- I thought this forum was just for intros and the other was for technical questions.

it could very well be that the SD card is corrupt. By any chance, you didnt swap the SD card into another phone did you? When I got my D2G, the vzw rep that normally handles all my business and personal affairs wasnt there that day. so what happened was the rep that was assisting placed my Blackberry card into my new Android card slot and corrupted it that damn thing. they were supposed to transfer from my BB onto an external then back into my new D2G but didnt. they did a reset and wiped every file, picture, etc i had on my existing card. anyway so much to tell you on my experience but you may have to reformat it as mentioned below, try to see if you can use a card reader to ur PC and see if it can transfer a file
