New Developer Looking For Suggestions

TLDR: I'm currently looking for suggestions on where exactly to get started programming android apps.

I am by no means new to coding nor am I an expert, however I have never done JAVA before. Because of this I am currently reading JAVA for Dummies. Following this I plan to read Android Application Development for Dummies. Thus far I have simply done the Hello Android tutorial and followed the tutorials by CornBoyz on youtube. I still do not feel as though I have a good grasp on the subject matter.

If someone could please provide me with "homeworks", preferably ones that have solutions I can turn to when I get stuck, I would greatly appreciate it. That being said any other, tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Having you went through the different code examples under the Dev Guide tab at The Developer's Guide | Android Developers? I gained almost all of my knowledge here and it should be enough to get you pretty far.
