Need to add another Gmail Account

I have a gmail account that Verizon set up on my Droid X. I have another gmail account that I would like set up and I cannot figure out how to do it. I have tried many times but apparently I am not setting up the correct setting for Incoming Server and Outgoing Server.

Can someone help me with those or tell me where I need to go to find out what to put in for those.

I love my phone but I am far from a techy person!!!

Thanks!
Patti

All I know about this is that it's a a real pia to deal with. My brother had the bad fortune of having Verizon do this to him as well. I'm not sure how he fixed it but eventually he did.

I'll try and get in touch with him and get back to you. I really wish Verizon would quit trying to be so "helpful" on certain things like this.

You cant just add the account from settings --> Accounts... --> add account?

Also, you might want to update the gmail app from the market as well, if I recall the newer gmail client supports multiple accounts bettet.

HTH...

Yeah just go into gmail app and add another account. Don't go into the mail account which does require you to set up manually for the most part. I have two gmail accounts under gmail and both work fine.

gmail

I was finally able to add the gmail account...found the server info on the Motorola site by searching google.

Now that I have it entered and I am receiving the emails.....I HAVE NO CLUE WHERE THEY ARE GOING!!! I click on my email folder and they are not there, I click on my gmail folder and they are not there. I get them in my notifications bar and that is the only place I can find them. Once I read them they are gone!!!

please Help!!!

Should be in the email app.

However, I would delete that setup and use gmail itself for another gmail account. Very easy and all under one.

Well, I spoke to my brother and while I don't fully understand why he had to do it this way, he did have to take his phone in and get a replacement in order to change the gmail account. Now I feel that the guy who runs the store that he bought from is a bit of an idiot, but that's the answer I got.

Maybe somebody else knows something more. Good luck.

Thank you!! Yes, I have to agree many of the people at the stores are idiots. Some are awesome though. I am going to take my phone in and see which one is which at my store!!!!:)

You say you were trying to find incoming and outgoing servers for the Gmail account, which leads me to believe you're trying to set up your Gmail account through the regular Email app, not the Gmail app, correct? Keep in mind that Android allows you to have multiple Gmail accounts added through the actual Gmail app. Have you tried going to Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> Add Account? You can add more than one Google account. And you don't have to worry about IMAP/POP3 servers.

Go to GMAIL APP, hit your settings button, select ""ACCOUNTS", then select "ADD ACCOUNT" at the very bottom. Should let you type in your information and password and you are good to go.

If you have added this same account on your "MY ACCOUNTS", delete it there prior to adding in the GMAIL APP.
