Verizon Mobile Hotspot 4G (yes, I paid for this service)
Droid4 (my 4th, due to numerous quirks, 2 new, 2 reconditioned) unrooted
I do not have a laptop or desktop computer right now.. this droid IS my computer/laptop
Throughout my troubleshooting, I DID do all the 'right steps', even down to removing SD & SIM card and softset. Had a full battery, limited the additional data going on, checked my configurations both on the phone and Xbox, Had a good 4g signal (well, as well as
Verizons Tether demons allow me) and compared that to my husbands phone, side by side.
I dont want to know anything other than how I can get this dang XBOX connected to the equipmant and plan I have now.
I am NOT very computer literate, thats probably why my computer at home died and had backups that were corrupt. (No, I dont surf porn sites, but the whole family used the same computer)
1. After succesful connect, i am dropped when the XBOX attempts to update. I tried to skip the update, as that is an option...but..it is a mandatory update. XBOX update tells me that if I refuse the update, my connection will be disconnected. Yes, they disconnected it when I tried to go around that.
2. I used my husbands FOXFi app on his RAZR, it worked, BUT, I am the only person who is lucky enough to still have unlimited plan with Verizon, so its not feasible to use his to stay connected. I did notice that my stock Hotspots security setting is WPA2 PSK, I cant change it, unless I choos an open ans unsecured connection. I even tried doing THAT, but lost the connection AGAIN.
3. I used MY FoxFi app to try and connect, THAT too, gave me no choice on security settings, PLUS, it was the free version, so FOXFi actually disconnected me and told me to buy the paid version or restart the trial version that limits the time you stay connected. This wont do.
4. Each time I connected using my phone, the xbox took a while before it would discover my network. My husbands picked up right away. The last time I tried, I used my verizon hotspot again, and the xbox did NOT find my network, ever again. (Is it pissed at me by now?!)
PLEASE help...Im a VERY tired Mommy...

have you tried usb teathering?
I had the issue with my d3 in that it kept loosing connection when I tried to use wifi
But when I used quick usb teather (found on google play free) it worked flawlessly for me
Now keep in mind the d3 kept loosing its connection because the radio was garbage
