I rooted my ally before the ota update nowi am having trouble rerooting. I do not know if I have to reroot to install a rom or not but if I do is there any way to do that besides for universal androot and z4root. If I do not have to reroot how can I see what rom I am using right now (I do not remember installing one) and take that rom off and install velocity rom. Thank you in advance.

Use superoneclick 1.7. Make sure your debugging is on. May have to try several times b4 root. Good luck

Guitarfx71,
Were you on 2.2.1 when you tried Superoneclick? And did you get Super User access?

Yes I updated 2.2 ota update Yes I did get superuser as well. Worst case scenario use the how to root ally posted
On androidforums.com. using adb.
When using one click method, have debugging off press root button, after killing adb server activate debugging it should allow you to root. It took 5 times b4 I got it. I also did it on my sons phone too. It took 3 times.
