Need Help Updating OG droid ;(

ok i have had my Dx since release when i got it i rooted it... I finally want to just get the latest GB so i went ahead and did a Factory reset im currently running

system version 2.2.340
android 2.2.1

I go to update the system to w/e the latest version is available, it downloads I install it phone reboots and i get the little ! android guy it install about 1/4 of the way then the moto sign comes on and went fully processed I get "update has failed"?


how the heck do i get this to update? I don't need nothing fancy i just want to update to the latest and im pulling my hair out

Recently I have been experiencing a very slow response from my OG. From the lock screen after putting in the pattern it may take 4-8 seconds to respond. Also when exiting an APP I will get a blank home screen and periodically it will change my wallpaper to one I haven't used in over a year.
