Need help unrooting my phone

Hello everyone i just bought this RAZR and i love it the problem is it appears to be rooted i bought it off graigslist. I need to unroot it because the headphone jack is defective, luckily i have insurance from verizon. I have no idea what method it was rooted and it does have the superuser app how can i unroot it back to factory defaults? I know for sure its rooted because when i tried to watch video rentals from a verison app it told me i couldnt purchase anything because my phone is rooted. Please help me and bare with me, im new to all these terms this is also my first android phone.

You're gonna want to use this tool to restore to 6.12.173. To get your phone into AP Fastboot mode power it down then hold the "volume down" button while you press the power button. You will most likely need to download the proper drivers for your computer (included in the linked post). Hope this helps.

What do i do after i install the drivers to my computer do i just connect the phone? Do i have the risk of bricking the phone?

If you've downloaded and unzipped the utility open it and run it. As long as you read and follow the instructions that the utility gives you there should be no issues. Just be warned that this will totally reset your phone and all data will be lost. So back up anything you need manually by connecting it through USB mass storage mode and drag and drop files you want to keep to your computer. This method is essentially what Verizon does to fix bricked phones. Make sure your phone is charged above 70 percent and you shouldn't have issues.

Oh ok thank you i hope this works so Verizon wont be able to tell that the phone was ever rooted when i take it back to them?

I ask bcause there have been debates as to vzw not honoring insurance if not purchased from them. Yet my last 3 purchased phones have been other than vzw purchase and they are steady charging me that insurance premium..

Really? Well I bought my phone from craiglist and I told the guy at the verizon store that. Yet he still gave me the option to get inssurance. So I am paying that 6.99 a month. He actually did mention something about that he "wasn't suppose" to but he signed me up anyway. I hope he didnt screw me because as it turns out the phone is defective.
(he didn't know the phone was rooted either, I didnt even know up until a few days ago.)

173 is GB and the latest official build. Thats the one you want for turn in. As far as unrooting you could also just use ginger unroot from the martet, and factory reset?

Whats ginger unroot? is that an app? Is that easier than the other method? Sorry for all the questions, I completely new at all of this.
