My DroidX locked up last night

I've had it about two weeks. Was browsing last night in bed and it just locked up...nothing worked -- not pressing screen or buttons. The power button did work and I was able to turn it off, but then it would not come back on. :icon_eek:

I pulled the battery for a bit and it restarted. No issues since.

Is this "normal" -- like MS Windows, sometimes just locks up and needs a reboot?

I won't say it is normal but it does occur. If you have a task killer I suggest removing since they can cause FC and lockups.

The only thing that ever caused lockups on my phone has been Handcent.

Regardless of whether or not I am actually USING it, the phone locks up at random times throughout the day with Handcent installed and the only solution I have found is removing it.

Phone hasn't locked up since.

That is interesting Section Twelve. I have a rooted Droid I've had Handcent since the first day (prior to rooting) I purchased my phone and it has never caused me a problem.

Yeah, not sure why it's happening but it only happens with Handcent installed and working. If I switch back to the default text client, it stops.

I have this happen a few times. I'm running leaked 2.2 unrooted. I'm sure it has something to do with that. I did a battery pull, waited a minute or two, put the battery back in and it started up and works fine.

i had this issue all of last week. it was horrible. apparently a lot of people have the same issue

i swear the problem was VZW VM. i had to take my X back to (new out of box state) and then did not reinstall vzw VM. its been working fine for 2 days now. it seemed like everytime it rebooted, there was a vm in the box or getting downloaded. thats why i think its that.

Yup the rouge app is causing problems. Task killer and anti virus apps are doing it as well. Don't install any task killers and if the app does not close, do a force close on it. Comparable to CTRL+ALT+DELETE......
