My Droid 2 Global says "message failed to send" but it sends anyway?

My Droid 2 global keeps saying "Message Failed to Send after I send a message, even though it actually sends. Its so annoying! Is there anything I can do other than get a new one from Verizon?

Open the messaging app and hit menu and then settings and uncheck delivery reports

they were already unchecked.
