My custom OtterBox Commuter + Extended Battery

Here is my custom modified otterbox commuter + extended battery. Fits surprisingly well. the only part that's slightly off is the volume key side but i can live with that. Had to cut the backing of the rubber piece and grinded down the backing of the outer case. This is installed without the extended battery cover.

can you elaborate a little more on the grinding of the plastic cover part?

i have a bionic with the extended battery and am deciding on which case i want to buy any modify/

Sure. You dont have to grind t he back down. It'll fit fine. I just wantEd that extra clearance. be careful if you do though. Dont want to grind through the plastic.

Awesome job, thank you for sharing your work! =)

Just wondering if you might know if it still fits the car dock with this case? Thanks!

I took the opposite approach to modifying the case. I left the extended battery cover on, and cut away the back of the outer plastic shell. I made a slit along the sides of the rubber to allow the buttons to line up. I didn't want to rely on the otterbox case to keep the battery in place, and this way I can take it out of the case and it is still usable.
