Music Downloaded while on the phone isn't being recognized

I download a few mp3's from the internet while on my phone but now the songs will only show up in downloads. I was hoping to use these songs as Ringtones after editing them using one of the ringtone apps. But they don't appear in the phones music, so none of the apps I've downloaded so far can locate these songs. Is there anyway to move the songs from the downloads to another area on the phone, or a way to get the phone to recognize these files as music? I can play the songs but only when I am in downloads.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Often times when downloading music files they will not show up until you either rescan the media card or unmount and remount the sd card. Or reboot the phone. Then they should show up in music apps even if they are still in the download directory. I would still recommend moving them to your music folders and then rescan or unmount mount sd card.
