Motorola Shadow

Well what I'm hearing is that all their phones will coke with the locked down bootloader and sbf will be few and far between. But that's just what I've been told from those leaking the specs

MotoBLUR = no thank you. I love my moto droid because it's stock Android. Motorola should smarten up and realize that their best selling phone - the Moto Droid - is stock, and they should keep it that way.

Stock Android FTW!

Don't think I'll ever buy a MotoBlur phone. Maybe Sense UI but not MotoBlur.

You guys must forgery or not know that blur can be disabled and I doubt any if you have seen 2.0+ with blur

I wonder if the Shadow will be called the Extreme?

Yes, I believe so. From my original post in your Droid 2 thread:

Well, I just finished reading all 50 pages of the thread on Howard Forums and here's what I believe to be the known specs for the Shadow:

 • It's currently named MB810 for FCC purposes
 • When released, it will be called the Droid Extreme
 • Has a 4.1" screen
 • Powered by a TI OMAP3630 ARM Cortex A8
 • Has an 8MP camera with Dual LED Flash
 • Records video at 720p
 • Outputs 720p video through HDMI
 • Has between 2-8GB of internal storage
 • Has no QWERTY keyboard
 • Has 4 buttons at the bottom like the HTC HD2
 • Currently runs Android 2.1 with Moto Blur, but Verizon doesn't want to pay for Blur to be on the phone, so we'll see
 • Is all black, square and has a metallic red camera button
 • Is about 9mm thin
 • Is slated for July release only on Verizon

I do think it's likely it'll be spelled "Xtreme".

One update to the above is that the 4.1" screen is LCD.

Also from the same thread (which has recently confirmed again):

From what I read, if it has Blur and you don't like it, you can turn it off.

No, I haven't seen 2.0+ with MB so I guess I shouldn't be quick to judge. But I just prefer a stock Android device out of the box.

Doesn't matter to me though because I'm sticking with my Droid at least until around next year when LTE phones start releasing.

This is an "old" article but I question if the Shadow is really the Extreme.

Motorola 'Xtreme' coming to Verizon? -- Engadget Mobile

The Shadow and the Extreme are two different devices. The device in the OP image is the Extreme. It does not have a keyboard and does not have Motoblur or Froyo. There is plenty of time to load Froyo before it is released though. The form factor is much nicer than the Moto Droid although it is really wide because of screen size. Holding it in my hand made me question if I could comfortably operate it with one hand. I didn't get to play with it much but looks pretty cool from what saw.

According to rumors I've seen it's expected for Q2 of this year... which probably means June at the earliest. Rumors also have it pegged as a GSM phone which would limit it to TMobile and AT&T in the US. GSM Arena has the rumored specs showing 3G bands of 850 / 1900 / 2100 which rules out TMobile (you'd see 1700 in there). Strange since TMobile was the target network for the Nexus One. Maybe those 3G frequency bands are just plain wrong.

I think the GSM specs are bogus. While there may be a GSM version in the works, both the Shadow/Xtreme and Droid 2 will be CDMA on Verizon at launch.

There may be GSM models of the Extreme coming but it will not be exclusive to gsm.
