Missing 'Videos" app even after reflashing back to stock

I wish my first post was under better terms, but this is driving me too crazy. I also hope this is the right section since it's a rooted 2.2 Droid at present.

Earlier today I noticed I was missing "Videos" in my launcher. Did some searching, and found nothing. Looked on my wife's phone for an .apk, and I didn't see one for videos, but she has it in her launcher.

I restored to an earlier nandroid backup of CM6, and videos was there. So then I went forward into Sapphire, and videos went missing again.
Once I got home, I got the FRG01B.sbf file, and I flashed the phone thru RSDLite.

Once it came back up and I setup android, videos was still missing.
I went to my earliest nandroid backup, videos was back. I went forward with an FRG01B "update.zip" and videos disappeared.

So, I'll be going back to Sapphire, but would like to know how to get videos back, if possible. I'm not immediately interested in a 'replacement' app just yet.

Please help. Thanks!

IIRC, with the update to FroYo videos are only accessed through the gallery. I just checked LFY and UD8, and UD7 and there is no video app in the launcher.

Interesting, so if a phone, like my droid and my wifes droid, came with 2.1, and we did upgrades to get to 2.2, Video's was just hanging around as a result? And now that I've flashed to something newer without following an upgrade path from 2.1, videos is just gone?

I'm ok with that. :)

I have a Video app on UD8....I think it is related to the Gallery apk.

EDIT: It is linked to the Music apk.

hmm, I had that thought also. I don't know where the 'shortcuts' for launcher is stored, so if I learned that, I could look on my wife's phone for how its setup.

Use Root Explorer to move the apk to your /system/app directory. This is the Music.apk that I have, which includes the Video shortcut.

Thank you, that did put videos back into the launcher.

I'm curious to see how switchapk works in Sapphire, if it'll work with this music/video app or not. Worth a shot either way.

Thanks for all the help scoder, mwhartman, and Bob Dammit!
