Message App?

Anyone know a good messages app? The one built into the program is hideous, and the one built into LauncherPro is very aesthetically pleasing, but has no functionality. I'd like it to show the latest message (primarily interested in text, but email/text is a non-required bonus) in a visually pleasing way, but then when I click on it have it take me to "messages", so it also serves as a link. Who uses a good one?
