This is what happens when OEMs make a hard promise on when an update will be available for a specific device. They should take the lead of our Rom community developers and shun ETAs. It is nice to have a time frame for an update release, but inevitably something will hold up development and then you have to fight the PR battle. HTC promised that we would have an update to Marshmallow on the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition in the month of October.
This didn't really seem to be too much of a stretch since the HTC One M8 runs stock aosp. The only thing that HTC really had to do was modify the camera app to take advantage of the dual rear camera. The month is over and we still don't have a proper update. This makes you wonder if HTC will be able to stand behind their 15 day Android version update policy for the HTC One A9. The M8 GPE Marshmallow update is expected to arrive in the next few days.
