Maps and the Street

Hello,
I must be loosing my mind... well I think I already did!
Anyway with all the hoopla about Maps 5 and the 3D option I went to check out all the new and exciting changed since I just updated Google Maps to v5.
Well its only in a few cities so its probably a bit away form being useful to me BUT, I went to use the Street View from Google which is installed. and its not in the application draw (though is was a while ago).
I then took a look at Google maps because there is usually a red button that you can press to call up Street View but it to isn't there.

Am I missing something?
I re-installed Google maps and its available but what is going on???

Starting to worry here

Thanks

Street view I think is a plugin now to the new google maps...

Check the market or go on google, more, even more then mobile... its in there. The last update broke it down like that in my phone to be different apps cuz the size now of gmaps... it really depends on the person I think n who wants what to be in it

Street view is a add on from the market for the new maps. Take a look and if you have any problems just post them and we will try to resolve them

Both are installed when I go into Maps and press a location it doesn't offer me a option for a street view.
There isn't a button next to the search to call up the address you add in.

I must admit I have not used it in a while but last time I pressed on the icon and the locations inserted appeared like real representation of the buildings streets ect.

I no longer have that option.

Am I missing something?

Thanks

I just PMed a friend to see if I could maybe get a little more help on this one. Kinda stumping me here but have you tried unistalling then reinstalling?

Ok I went playin to see if I could figute this out...

Street view is not allowed use everywhere on any street. Main streets in towns and stuff like that or more populated areas support more views pending on the area...

If this mayb ur problem, search an area like nyc or manhattan and attempt street view there... if it still don't work, then u may have a problem

I have been playin around myself with the street view and it does seem to have a limited view. Seems good in big cities but the more rural you get the more rare the street view is. Well thats how it seems to be playing out for me. I hope this can help. I'm still learnin about it and ill post new info if I can come across it

If Street View is available for a given location you'll see the Street View button (looks like a man with triangle pointing down on his chest) enabled.

Yup. Try out Street View in Google Maps on your PC. They both pull from the same data.

1. The new maps using vector graphics no longer has bubble buttons on the location.

2. Whether or not you get street view is dependant on that particular location itself. Not all are covered.

Go to a location that you used before for SV and see if you can call it up again, so far I have no issues with locations that do have it on maps 5.

OK I'll change my location and see if its available...
Even though that kinda defeats the idea of seeing a street view of a location I'm going to..

Doesn't it?

You're missing our point, if they haven't placed a particular spot in street view, then either on the PC with maps, or maps 5, you won't get it at that location.

This isn't a maps 5 or phone issue, just one of Google Mapping and making more locations into street view.

If you get it for any one location, then it's working fine.

Yeah that is what I meant.

But I have been looking for a view in Paramus, NJ, Teaneck, NJ which are very populated area's.

But if its not there then its not.

Long press the area on the map.

A balloon pops up with the address. Press this balloon.

On the new page that pops up, press the little man icon.

Now you are in streetview.

OK Thanks
I have now realized that only NY NY Philly have street views.

That is a shame that they are so so so limited.
Not useful to me unless I find myself in a MAJOR city.

To bad its been a while and thought the availability would have grown a lot.

Thanks again everyone for your support.

It works in the town I live in and its small... only the main streets but I can still get street view even in a town under 10,000 population. Mayb I'm lucky for that, but it should work in more areas than overpopulated areas. I mentioned to try them areas to b sure it works
