Malware Autopilot Diamond Jewelry Phone Call

Today my phone beeped and I thought I had a text message. Instead there was a notification with a star next to it about "Autopilot." Then the screen came up that includes the option to turn on airplane mode. I pushed the back button and it went away. Then there was some sort of message with an ad for diamond jewelry and it went to the phone function with an 800 number loaded in. I quickly stopped it from making the call.

Next I downloaded Lookout, which didn't find anything at all. Then I went to the apps and deleted an "Autopilot toggle" app. I am very concerned that there is malware on my phone and I don't know how to get rid of it.

Other relevant info: Original Motorola Droid, Rooted and running Android Version 2.2. I use Locale, which may have something to do with the autopilot, but I don't recall actually installing the autopilot toggle. I would think that functionality would be covered by my Locale Airplane Mode Plugin. I don't recall installing any apps at all in the past few weeks prior to this incident.

FYI - Same here, Moto Pro w/ aRoot. I notice that when I open click on the message it takes me to an ad. After you click it, it shows an autopilot message at the top and quickly redirects to an ad. In my installed apps there's an app called autopilot and I don't know what it is. I'm assuming that's the problem. I'm removing it and rebooting.

It uninstalled ok and it seems to be gone. haven't noticed an adverse reactions. If it was part of the system it wouldn't have let me uninstall it. This AutoPilot shouldn't be confused with anything related to GPS; however, there is an app out there called AutoPilot that's legit and used to turn off cell when in low signal areas. It's icon is also a plane, but it is a white plane on a black background. That's my experience, who knows, tomorrow it might come back. Other than the daily morning notification bar icon and message, I didn't notice any other issues. It's totally possible that the Russian Mob drains my savings account tonight though, lol.

I've had this red star pop up in my status bar a few times over the past couple months.

I woke up this morning and it was there again. Before I clicked, I figured I would try and research it a bit. Found this forum, and I uninstalled autopilot for locale. Once I uninstalled, the red star when away from the status bar.

I'd be that was the culprit...so good luck all of those who are looking for a solution to this problem as well!
