LTE phone 3g price/option question

Sooooo i'm going to want one of the lte phones coming out, but i don't want tiered data. i want to stay on my current awesome plan. Do I have to pay for lte? or can i just say i only want 3g. i'm going to be supper bummed if i don't have a only 3g option.

Verizon has not anounced pricing on 4g for smarphones yet. I suspect that might be what their Tuesday press conference will contain among other things.
