Losing the :-)

As far as I know you can't because its a part of the keyboard program. Unless maybe if you reverse engineer it or something then maybe you can get rid of it. Or use a keyboard from the market.
 
Welcome to the forum. I do not believe there is any way to change the stock keyboard. If you are technically inclined I think there are ways you can alter it. The easiest way would be to use a keyboard replacement from the market.
