Long distance dialing with + sign

Just got my new Incredible 2. Very nice unit.
My entire contact database of over 1K entries has a + sign in front of the number, for example +44(for the UK) or +1(for the USA). This worked fine on my Blackberry, but it appears that the Driod operating system only likes 011 in front of the number. Are there any 3rd party dialers to work around this issue? Any suggestions?
