I got it working on Verizon...
...but it was not easy. Here's the description of what I did to get it working. Others have reported success with different methods. Expect some fiddling on your part before it works for you. This isn't a step-by-step,; I assume you know how to use Clockworkmod and other common ROM tricks.
First, I had to do revert to the the original GB rom, as described here:
Download: Rooted and Deodexed Gingerbread for DROID2 - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog
Then, BEFORE going to Liberty, I did a cache wipe and installed TBH's tethering patch from here:
TBH_DX_Tether_Patch_1.0.zip .
I also installed the 'test' wifi app:
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service . I don't use use this app per se, instead using the built-in tethering option in the system wifi settings. I have no idea what combination of factors made my wifi work, though, so I'm not interfering with it.
After I installed those, I tested the tether to make sure it was working. Once it was, I then installed GB nightly 0.8 and configured it to my little heart's content. I also installed some non-Liberty fix for the market, which has not interfered at all with my wifi tethering.
I'll probably be sticking with this configuration until there is widespread confirmation that one of the newer versions has got the wifi fix built in. I'm interested to see how Justice and D2 Cyanogen stack up.
