Here's a story you should throw a blood-pressure rising quantity of salt on. The above image is supposedly the first real look we have of the new LG G5. At first blush you might think it's far too ugly to be a 2016 smartphone, but that's actually a case surrounding the prototype. The case is likely specifically made to hide the actual aesthetics of the device underneath.

It's also obviously a dummy (non-functional) device. There are a few solid takeaways from this image. On the front is a slot for a secondary display just like the one found on the LG V10. We can see dual rear cameras and a flash in the middle. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back, as well as a USB Type-C Port and speakers on the underside. All of these clues heavily favor the claim that it is a legitimate LG device.

Of course, there's no telling how old this device prototype is. It could be far along or far removed in its evolution toward a retail product. We will keep an eye out for any additional intel which backs up this leak.

You can see more images in the thread below, and here is our dedicated LG G5 section for further discussion: LG G5

Maybe it's that casing, but I don't see the curved back of the previous G4, etc

That could actually even be an old V10 prototype that didn't make the grade. Hard to say for sure at this point.
