Left in the dark by moto...

Curiously my wife has an HTC incredible, similiar age to the OG right? ... she just got a push notification this morning about a system update. I'm assuming to the new sense skin, when she sent me that text I was like .. WTF, DONT DO ANYTHING! LOL. I know the og never even got a GB update, so I was shocked to hear this from her. Feeling a swap to the dark side in my future after that news! Anyone else hoping Google makes moto give us this kind of support for devices like the bionic? I mean.. is it really unreasonable to expect a full two years of serviceable updates on a device? Like say service the D1 to two years from the D2 launch (software wise). Moto may have the best hardware, but if they don't get the customer service side down (hoping google takes care of that) then they are gonna be in trouble.. granted they will probably never lose their military ties, and may be why they treat customers like sht.. lol

Wow...I'm a little shocked they pushed this out again. There were a lot of issues with it last time. I guess they figured they'd already put so much time into it that they should go ahead and keep working on it. It's an update 2.3.4.

As far as Moto and releases, I tend to agree. They aren't really slow with updates (on newer phones), but as soon as a successor has been announced/released, they put it on the backburner, though I can't really blame them for that. I love Moto (D1 owner) and I too have contemplated a switch to HTC, but not for update reasons. My reason is the unencrypted bootloader, certainly not for Sense...I find it hideous. Lol.

I hadn't thought of it that way.. they did have a lot of issues with that update, so much so that one of the reps I talked to about my bionic (when they were being nice about changing phones for me until I started DEMANDING it -.-... ) actually told me they swapped a few DINC1 owners to the DINC2 due to all of the problems with it. I really think that was a load of bs after all the trouble I've had.. ';..;' that could be fixed by a factory reset and declining the OTA *shrug*

Yeah, the sense UI is ok. I know my wife loves it and prefers it over anything, but she has only owned HTC smartphones.. came from an eris w/ Lightning V2 Oc/ed at 420mhz :P to the incredible. She's been on ADW for awhile now though and won't let me root this one because of the risk of it lol (Bad on me for telling her it isn't unbrickable like the OG LOL). I'm actually impressed with motos newest ui, it's not in your face like sense and the widgets they supply are actually very useful... including the airplane mode toggle -.-

The hardware between the two are different. The Incredible has twice the RAM (512) and a non OCed 1GHz CPU.

In addition, sense didn't get updated. If it did it was EXTREMELY minimal.

Besides that the Incredible is done with. GB was the last update it'll ever get officially, and to be frank it was because of it's specs and demand. It was really up in the air if the Inc. was going to get it and it was delayed countless times.

It really isn't anything to be envious of.

Even the Nexus One isn't officially going to ICS. Even though it totally could same with the Incredible.

I get all that TJK, I'm just absolutely amazed it even got GB. That phone was running amazingly on Froyo, so much so that (because of the skin I'm sure) I was absolutely shocked today to realize she was still on Froyo! because of my wife's luck with HTC I've seriously been debating going to it. oddly enough call quality is slightly lower on the HTC... duh right? but I rarely use my phone for phone calls anyway lol. One of my primary reasons for looking into the HTC camp.. honestly after all this sht with the bionic, and the way I've found myself using it, I've been debating swapping my line to a tablet anyways *shrug* ... go figure, data issues made me want a tablet because I realized data is all I ever use on the phone. 4.5GB last month even with all the outages!! X_X, Only reason I haven't looked into making the switch is.. I'm not givin up my unl. If it means going back to my D1 (or giving my wife the bionic and stealing her inc for true wifi instead of ad-hoc) and buying a WIFI tablet I'm down lmao.
