Click on windows icon > settings > Update & Securty. Windows Defender should be the second one listed, if it's installed.
I would highly recommend a clean install of win 10 though. I use Avast Free. Have for years.

If only it had been that easy. McVirus "Turns Off" Defender and you actually have to un-install McVirus before you can "Turn On" Defender.

I thought long and hard about formatting and doing a clean install. But after doing some reading and talking with a friend who does Desktop Support for a living I decided to keep the Lenovo apps and just remove the Windows Bloat. There is a lot of great info on Win 10 and how to deal with it out already, even found a forum with a whole bunch of useful info.

I'm up, configured, de-bloated, and coming to terms with it...MS screwed the pooch on a whole bunch of stuff here. The worst by far is Windows Update.

What did MS mess up? I was on the Alpha builds for almost 6 months before release. The first couple of builds were a little rough but overall I like 10 over anything else. Turn off the privacy crap though. That's my only gripe. The screens are fluid, you can multitask very easily. Task view is a great addition to Win.

I browse, Windows 10 Forums when I'm looking for something specific about Win10.

Windows Update removed the option to allow you to select which updates you want. Had to go to the Group Policy Editor (After I dropped $99.00 to upgrade to Pro) to enable the option that allows me to be notified of updates rather than having them automatically installed.

This is going to make figuring out which update hosed the Wireless adapter much more difficult.

And finding all the settings that need to be disabled... wow what a chore.

Funny I found that same forum, had some Powershell script to un-install the pre-installed MS Bloat that couldn't be un-installed any other way, the xBox app for example.

I really like the PC, and while I got nothing from Lenovo support other than Cauliflower Ear and a promise of a Call Back from a Subject Matter Expert, at least they were courteous and I could understand the service rep.

Edit: Just got the call from Lenovo's "Subject Matter Expert" - She didn't know much, so I told her what I knew. Promised to send me an eMail if they discover which update is the culprit. Kinda hard to complain about the service. They also said the computer was eligible for free onsite support and would have sent a tech to fix my problem.

Oh I forgot about the GPE. I used a batch file someone wrote to remove OneDrive. That was annoying.
