Mine is a "use it or lose it" scenario, so I'll only be working today and tomorrow, to use up my last couple days. [emoji106]
Wish I had that problem. I'm a firm believer in taking the time that I've earned, but I only get 2 weeks a year right now. There are ladies who've worked here almost as long as I've been alive that constantly have their vacation hours at the cap and lose them regularly. Send those my way. I'll take care of them in a heart-beat!

Yeah, before our acquisition we were allowed to either carry them over or cash them out, but sadly those days are long gone. And at 5 weeks a year (6 1/2 if you include holidays & floating holiday time) it's tough to use it all, so I end up scrambling in Dec to keep from losing too much.

Geez. I just don't think I'll ever have that problem. Haha!

Like I said, I'm a firm believer in using up the time that I've earned. Even if it just means sitting at home doing nothing all day Friday since rent's due and that'll be the end of my last paycheck.

I hated having to pay rent.. It always drained things.. Putting up with a land lord and their stupidity (at times).. I had one particularly bad one.. I'd pay my rent.. And he'd come by and say.. I haven't gotten my rent.. When the bank clearly showed it had been paid... Or at times I'd hand him a check and he'd write out a receipt... And come back in a week asking for my rent.. And the guy wasn't older.. Think he had a drug problem.. Or just a really bad memory..

Well our landlord is her Stepdad and he's awesome. We're actually behind by at least a couple months and they just asked about it yesterday for the first time that she's mentioned it to me, which is perfect because I actually have the money in my account right now for my portion of it.

However, I know exactly what you mean. Been there. Done that. Not so much with them not realizing that I'd paid, but with trying to get them to fix things, that I ended up fixing myself.

Any work at all that we do on the house or things we purchase for the house itself, we just supply receipts and they let us take it off the rent.

Makes me feel that much worse that we've gotten behind.

I'm with ya there.. A lot of land lords are a pain when it comes to getting things fixed.. And its hard to get some of them to honor the "I fixed, you take it off the rent" situation.. When i was 19 I rented a trailer house..(got to start somewhere) The hot water heater blew up.. Turned out that they had a non mobile home approved hot water heater in the trailer.. I was a kid.. I didn't know about any of that stuff.. But i replaced the hot water heater with the help of a friend's dad... I had to fight for them to take it off the rent.. I wanted for a week for them to fix it.. They never even came out...

I had a landlord tell me "You know that's not gonna kill you, right?" When we're standing there looking at this mushroom that's growing out of the space between my tub and the wall.

I was like, "No s***, but if that's growing, who knows what else is? And if there's enough moisture getting in there to cause that, what's it doing to the walls and the floors in this second-story apartment?"

I ended up re-caulking it 3 times after he replaced it because the cheap caulk that he bought and left for me to use wouldn't setup even when left to sit for an extra day.

Let me tell you something, taking bird baths in the sink with the hose for 3-4 days in a row gets old, especially when you have to do it multiple times.

Down here.. In South East TX.. We can easily get black mold.. And it will kill you.. Bought this house 3 days after it was built.. And they didn't do a very good job of wiring or even putting the right size as unit in it.. So.. I have to rip out the ducting.. And put a dehumidifier in.. And replace the ducting.. Our birds don't need respiratory issues.. Nor do we...

Yikes. Good times. I had to pull out the ducting to our upstairs basement because I was down in my man-cave one day and suddenly there's liquid pouring down. First thing I think is "Someone overflowed the toilet!" as I dashed up the stairs.

I'm hollering "What's going on up here!?" And the door to the bathroom is shut, but no one seems to be panicking behind it that the potty is gushing, throw the door open and the little guy (5yo) spins around, having been facing the vent. No stool in front of the toilet that he was using at the time every time he went.

Yup. Kid peed down the vent. :That was enough messing with ducting for me, pulling it all apart and disinfecting it as best as I could.

Good morning. Hot fresh coffee on a cold winter morning...win! [emoji1]
