First, why live in LA? Second, arm and a leg, might be? Third, why move to Kalifornia?
There are some nice cities in the LA area, that one can get a home for $350+, but it's still LA and smog and traffic..
Many commute from 50-75 miles away East and North of LA, for less expensive decent housing, but you're spending +2-4hr on the road daily.

I'm in San Diego, cost a bit more than LA, and we're at $460k+, average price of a 3br SFR, although, a home 2 doors down from me is offered at +$420k needs about 50-100k to make it upgraded, still in late 80's attire, paint yard etc.

I have an uncle who commutes 2+ hours each way just to not live near LA or pay komifornia prices. I can't imagine 5 hours of commuting. I get road rage if I'm more than 20 minutes.

My drive to work is about 25 minutes, mostly through town and that's about my limit. Most days I encounter at least one idiot driver. [emoji35] Couldn't imagine a longer commute each day.[emoji3]

I got the idiot who was more interested in her phone than the green light in front of her. She did it twice. I need a push bar on the front of my truck to give her a tap or just move her out of my way. Put the stupid phone down.

I had a semi truck behind me yesterday and the driver was texting on his phone while driving on a congested road. When he saw me signalling to put the darn phone down he flipped me off. [emoji3]
