I hate those..I'd be ticked...and being as its red...red is a pretty expensive color..but a spot that small....probably could have it fixed for under 800 at a good shop..but it all depends on your location and your hookups..

Triple red candy paint with a tinted clear coat. It's not easy to fix.
Is the MuTang under warranty?
I know my 13 PassatTDI has 12yr unlimited miles on Paint...
5year paint warranty its under. Stupid spot to be rusting.

It's an odd place to rust, do you live in an area that uses salt on the road?

Bummer Mr stang! That's actually a pretty big rust bubble for you to be just now noticing it. Are you the original owner? If it's the stock paint and has never seen salt, it could be that the previous owner had the hood replaced and they did a crappy job with the prep work before it was painted. Even if you are the original owner and bought it brand new, the hood could have easily been replaced & repainted. A dealership doesn't have to tell you unless it's been in an accident. Hail damage, or any number of scenarios could have resulted in a replaced or repainted hood. Having done auto body for almost a decade back in the day, we actually had a couple of new car dealerships we did work for. You'd be surprised at just how often brand new vehicles get damaged during transit or at the dealership. Whether it's a small scratch that's too deep to buff out or a ding which they're not going to pull out and use filler to fix. The whole panel would be repainted instead of spot blending it. Not saying this is the case but it's certainly possible. Unfortunately it's the buyer who gets the shaft because the dealer isn't going to mention it because then they'll have to reduce the price and you're never going to know until it's too late. All it takes is the tiniest amount of condensation. The paint job will look prefect, but over time that condensation is going to work it's magic under the paint & clearcoat until one day you'll notice a rust bubble and say to yourself...WTH!?
Despite the reason, it still sucks! [emoji35]

Original owner, I bought it off the show room a week after it was delivered to the dealership. Looks like the paint on the edge cracked. It's actually not that big, I zoomed with the camera. I'm not sure how I missed it though. I've washed and waxed it once a month since ownership.

Tis a bummer, unfortunately the salt stays on the roads long after the snow is gone, guess that's one nice thing about living in SoKal, no salt use... Well no snow and barbecuing outside on an early January day... That's OK too... [emoji14]
