I bought an off corporate leased hp elitebook for $275. I didn't need new just reliable.

+1. I got my wife's Dell that way. She said she didn't need anything other than Office and email + minor browser use.
Those work perfectly. And my buddy is an IT director and gave me the contact.

I threw an SSD and RAM in it. I do all my IT consulting off it (networking, programming, etc).
