It is sad when an AH is in charge and make others suffer. I've been a manager / supervisor in Construction for 25+yrs, and don't start as an AH, sometimes we have to put on that hat when others get real stupid, but for me it's rare... It helps that I'm big too, but I don't use that either...

I try to utilize a 'learning' approach is the best way I can describe it. The only harsh word I ever used as a supervisor was: I'm disappointed. Most of my groups I've supervised work as a team and we all had to work together. I brought people who completely hated me to respect me those 8 hours we worked together. All the while (and what brought this up) is the fact that another supervisor came up to me and had the nerve to ask me why employees want to work with me over him.

My industry has quite a mix, and for a successful project/product, people have to "suck it up" and be adults and work together, unfortunately there are lots of "children" I oversee...

Me too. I manage a movie theater after all. It is...touchy. Some will be eager to join the workforce and contribute. Others, of course, are there to prove mommy or daddy they know about responsibility and it's an easy job. I try to make it fun too. It's a MOVIE THEATER! MOVIES! Who doesn't love movies? So, I throw in some movie trivia here and there. What I hate, is when other managers want to undermine me. You are literally making me work backwards!
