Kodi can be used in nefarious ways, but it looks like Amazon has given the app their official seal of approval. The Fire TV just received the update to 18.104.22.168. When you dig a bit deeper into the actual code of the update you find some code called "AddKodiToRecent".
This code looks for Kodi on your device, if present Kodi is listed as the first recently used app in the recents list regardless of the last time you actually used the app.
Many Kodi users were worried that it might get the ax as one of the next Blacklisted apps. Amazon has been blacklisting apps. It would make since for Amazon to kill this app on their devices as it potentially competes with the actual Amazon Store. This is good news for Kodi users as it is likely we won't see the app blacklisted any time soon with this kind of preferential treatment.
