Key Ring Reward Cards

I usually show my Sams card when I walk in or they send the police.

I have had a problem getting the Kroger self checkout to recognize the phone when I have the barcode pulled up on the screen.

I downloaded the app but haven't scanned anything in yet. I don't use a lot of reward cards, I always show my Sam's club card at the door. I like the idea of the app but not sure how much I would actually use it.

at sam's, you have to have the physical card to swipe in the machine when you check out, right? kroger works if you have someone use a handheld scanner, the self checkout is sketchy though..

The idea is kind of neat... but...

1. I'm not about to hand my phone to some random checkout person to scan.

2. I'm not about to look like the doofus I'd probably look like asking people to scan my phone.

I would rather be the doofus having someone scan my phone than being the annoying person shuffling through coupons. :)

You can use it, but they likely will:

1. Have to use a hand scanner to get the number. (I never let then hold the phone, even at the supermarket, let 'em hand scanner it ...)

2. If you get a tool of a checkout person, will want to see the physical card anyway, even though the scan pulls up your own information (by luck!)

I use it all the time at CVS & Winn Dixie markets, although as mentioned it must be scanned with a handheld device. I just hold it out, say "please scan my card" and they scan it. No need to hand it over. My last trip to CVS the cashier made a stink about it so I just said loudly that if you won't scan my card, I'll be happy to transfer all my prescriptions to another chain. The manager quickly came over and told the peon cashier to scan it and when I was leaving I heard him tell her to never do that again.
I can understand why stores like Sam's or Cosco would demand the original card (since the cards are paid non-transferable ID's), but the other stores don't care. Besides, in the other stores if you don't have the card you can just give them your phone # and it works just as easily.

Not at Sam's, they use the mag stripe, not a bar code. It does work for BJ's (the wholesale club... get your mind out of the gutter) though.

Do you all have any tips on making the barcodes actually able to be scanned, cause i have tried everything i could think of (Including all of the things it says to do in the Tips about doing it) and i still couldn't get a self checkout stand or the hand scanner to read it? Any further help or trips you've picked up over the time would be greatly appreciated.
