I am running 2.1 and don't know if I can flash 2.2 directly over 2.1 and if not what are the steps I need to go though?

Sbf .605 file, 1 click root, d2 bootstrap recovery, flash ss 2.2.

And trust me it's 500% worth it! Battery life is amazing.

You will need to sbf to minimum .602, then root using d3 root then Use d2 bootstrap to flash SSX 2.2.

Sorry to say it is actually against DroidForums policy to post links to any SBF. If you search for "droid x .602 sbf" you should be able to locate it.

As far as the root program that we can do. This is the one I have been using and linking many others too, it works very well - Pete's Motorola Root Tool

Battery has been pretty good for me. I always need to charge the phone during the day but I use it quite a bit.
