Just wiped dalvik cache and cleared cache

For all of my apps and my phone is faster than ever!!!

I had no clue wiping dalvik and clearing app cache would have such a dramatic effect on my OG D1 running CM 7 stable

Can someone explain to me why this made my phone so much faster?

like the ins and outs

wtf is dalvik

and what would happen if i wiped cache, not dalvik cache?

Cache is basically the system stats for the phone. When you clear them, it forces the phone to create a new one from scratch.
