Is there any way to use java other than java script? I can't install from the java website and javascript isn't working. I want to be able to use chat rooms on forums websites from my phone. It needs java to run. Any ideas?

If Ubuntu can run on your phone (see http://www.droidforums.net/forum/showthread.php?p=2027579 ) , then the Linux java installation should work.

hmm a jvm running in dalvik vm. never thought about this but its probably impossible/ too difficult


plus jvm is closed source and orical the owner of the jvm is sueing google over the dalvik vm... so i doubt itll ever be done by orical and without them its impossible

That's why we need a real linux running on these smartphones. And that dalvik vm should be made to run under the real linux as an add-on option for people who still need to use Android apps.

Well canonical has Ubuntu running on the atrix or some device like it & its really slow but its better then nothing I guess
