is there a way to customize what shows up on the home screen?

As in like what app icons appear on there, and is there a way to remove the huge digital clock and weather report that take up like over 50% of the screen. I mean, knowing what time it is and what the weather is like outside is nice, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a personal wallpaper considering you can't even see 75% of it due to the huge clock/weather thing.

Just touch it and hold for 2 sec... you will feel the phone vibrate when you have "grabbed the object" then drag it down to the trash can below...

yeah...

to remove and item long press on that item then when you feel the phone vibrate for a second drag that item to the bottom until it turns red and you can remove it.

then to add other widgets just long press on an empty place then select widgets from the menu that pops up

if you want to add a shortcut to a program pull up the application menu then long press on that item and drag it to wherever you want it on the screen.

This sounds like a question from someone who does not yet have an Android phone.

Of coarse you can customized about anything you want. You have have home screen totally blank if you want. Even get rid of the app tab with the right launcher.

Haha this is my first smartphone so it's definitely taking a little while to get used to everything that you can do it on it..

Purpose is a highly subjective matter. There are certainly plenty that find widgets and icons more useful to view than the wallpaper. YMMV, of course.
