Is the Driod X2 much better than Driod X?

I need to make a decision soon, I have a DX and I am thinking of getting a DX2, is this a wise decision? is the DX2 much better then the DX both in performance or problem wise? thanks for all your input.

I wouldn't bother unless it's free and outside your normal contract. 1.5Ghz and greater phones are on the way if you can hold out, and at least one of them will launch with Ice Cream Sandwich if that matters at all to you.

Plenty of people are unhappy with the X2, some fairly, some unfairly. many of them upgraded from the X and express the sentiment that they wish they hadn't.

I upgraded from the LG vortex to the Droid x2. I'm strongly considering returning it. It has very little ram. And its the only moto Droid without a bootstrap recovery available. None on market and the one for rom manager doesn't work. Am probably just going back to my vortex for the remainder of my contract.

I love mine the screen is great very visible in sun light. The hysteria over the pentile screen is silly nobody holds their phone 2" away from their eyes.
The famous music stutter is not much of a big deal with the new update you have to work to make it happen. The messaging app is brilliant all three of my email and all texts are in the one app

That being said that are some real beasts coming down the pike, so if you can wait I would!

The screen looked a little worse under froyo, it was really obviously a fault with pentile. 2.3.3 seemed to fix it for me, and I don't even notice it's not a regular LCD.

I'm not sure why there are so many complaints about DX2, I love mine. It runs even better now after this latest update.

The screen is much clearer and the battery life is so much better.

Could it be Motorola sent out so many lemons. If so, that doesn't look good for the company.

Anywho, just LOVE my DX2!

Happy customers don't complain. A few will post that they like a product but most only post on forums when they have problems. Makes for an obvious bias. DX2 has been a great phone for me and no phone I've ever owned didn't come with some issues and quirks. Nothing has been deal breaker for me. The camera has been the weakest item on the phone for me and the most troublesome. If I let the phone sleep while still on the camera then I was certain to have a reboot/lockup. Got the new 2.3.4 update on the phone now so we will see if this has been fixed as Moto claims it has.

I really like my X2. I got it on October 3rd and haven't regretted it a moment. This is actually my first smartphone. My wife has a Thunderbolt and I have dorked around with it but I definitely like my X2 better.

My biggest complaint is the little amount of ram. I have to hit my task killer after everyother web page it loads, its down to 65 m.

DX2 owner since it came out and have only been a smartphone owner since then as well. I have no issues with the phone...well, that bother me to the point of bashing it.

As others have mentioned you might want to wait with so many newer and better devices just over the horizon

I got mine on a BOGO deal (wife got a D3). I have been pretty happy with this phone, especially after the recent update. My music doesn't skip anymore and I listen to a lot of music at work, while working out, and while driving.

This is my 4th android phone and they have all had some issue or quirk to deal with. At least Motorola is providing updates.

Are you serious? by saying that the DX2 do not have much ram? comparing to what? there is not much differnt between the Driod X2 and Driod X, Correct me if I am wrong, the Motorola Droid X2 and DX share quite a few traits. Both phones have 4.3-inch-sized displays. Both have 512MB of RAM. Both have 8MP rear-facing cameras with 720p HD video capture, and both have HDMI out-ports. There is one slightly strange change on the storage front: Though both the Droid X2 and the original Droid X have 8GB of internal storag. I am very interesting in seeing performance differences between the two phones because of the X2 having a dual core chip in it.

I get a message about low memory on my X2 that I don't get on my Xoom... same game (Dragon, Fly) same dual core processor but the Xoom has 1GB of RAM. The game still plays on the X2, but I always get a message popping up saying Android might shut the app down. It never does though.

Maybe the dual core processor change is like the upgrades to processors in PC's... faster processors seemed to need more RAM (or work better with more RAM). I don't understand the why's, but this is my recollection.

To the OP; I never had a Droid X, so I can't compare the X2 and X. Having used a 1GHz Mytouch 4G before this phone I can say that they are very comparable in performance at least for my perception. I listen to a lot of music, play games, text, IM, and surf the web. My habits as a TMO subscriber and a VZW subscriber haven't changed so I think it's a fair comparison.
