Is it still "best" to let the battery drain before charging?

I'm going to a friend's house tonight, and want to listen to music and use Google Maps (maybe navigation if I'm "allowed" to with music in effect) on the way. I'm at 70% battery right now, if I start using my car-charger while it's at at level and run those apps, will that degrade the battery faster or whatever? I'd rather not bring my outlet charger to steal my friend's electricity, haha.

Absolutely not. The new lithium batteries do not have a memory like the old ones so discharging a battery completely is not only not necessary it can be harmful if done frequently.

I've seen some post from reliable sources that say run it down completely every few weeks. If you want to do that then fine but just don't do it regularly.

Oh good, then I can charge every night at bedtime, haha. I was avoiding that and only charging when it got down to 15% or less.

As my "ex" always said......Charge It!......

No harm with todays batteries or worries of overcharging.....
