Is it possible to modify unlock screen options?

I never text as an example so i thought i could replace it with something more useful like the Web browser. Seems as though it would be handy to change it as individual needs change.

Here's what I mean.

As i understand it, on some ics devices those 3 lock screen icons are the same as your dock. But on motorola they locked them to be text, phone, and camera. I can see those being the most popular, although i don't see the harm in allowing someone to change them to their personal taste. That being said. They can be changed to a different app. For instance, i use go sms. So i disabled the stock texting app and it automatically chose my other texting app. (in my case, go sms) i don't know what happens if you disable texting without having another texting app.

I too am looking at this issue, but your suggestion only helps in changing the app for the same thing (one text app to another). How does one change say the camera app option to a browser app? Not the stock browser app?

Yeah i realize that. I believe thats the only changing that can be done. Why they wouldn't unlock that option for you? I have no idea. It doesn't bother me personally because those are probably the apps i would have put there anyways, but i can see how it would bother me if one was an app i never use.

I think you are going to have to turn to a after market lock screen to get the customization you want. Widget locker is a pretty popular one with lots of customization, I use GoLocker and like it pretty well.

How do you disable the txting app

Just like uninstalling a downloaded app in manage apps. Or you can go to the app drawer/drag app up to more options/tap app info/tap disable

As of right now you cannot make Google Voice your stock texting app. It's one of the few that cannot be made the "Default" messaging. I've tried several different ways and so far no success.

nice description on how to just delete the main text messaging app. i use handcent and it worked like a charm. ... disable "text messaging and your other text messaging app will fall in line.. that would be nice to have "browser" instead of "camera" though. let me know of anybody knows what to do

Totally agree with this statement. Such a great app that makes your lock screen so versatile and useful, combined with swipe pad, it's a killer combo.
