Invalid Battery error message

I've had a lot of problems with my battery life, but for some reason after my battery had died, once my x restarted, i got an error message saying that I had an invalid battery that couldn't be charged and should be replaced with an original motorola battery. Does anyone have any idea what would have prompted this?

Are you using a battery not made by Motorola? Some off branded batteries have had this problem, & as far as I'm aware there isn't a fix yet.
