I received 2 B&N gift cards for my birthday in May. I have been waiting for the Nook for Android. My only concern is the large install size (18MB). It works well, I added the gift cards to my account and purchased, using the gift cards and downloaded 2 ebooks. I also downloaded several free ebooks.
I've read a couple books on Aldiko. I tried a couple samples on the android Kindle. I'll give this one a try too. I haven't looked into seeing if the kindle and nook's downloads are drm free or not. I'd rather keep all the books in one app which probably means using something like open source Calibre to choose a common format for one of the readers.

My understanding is that both Kindle and B&N utilize DRM protection; each has their own DRM scheme. The Kindle DRM scheme was recently changed because of the available methods for defeating the prior versions.
Because of the differing DRM schemes and the fact that my family and friends give me gift cards from many booksellers, I have several eBook readers.
Both Aldiko and the phone's Kindle worked fine for me. I did like how Aldiko could change the brightness easily while reading and you also could check progress easier it seemed. Other than that both apps were comparable and actual readability was the same.
Yesterday I flew from Richmond, VA to Seattle, WA. I was looking forward to starting to read the "Jack Reacher" series by Lee Child on the Nook reader.
Imagine my surprise at 10,000 feet when I started the Nook reader and it tried to Sync. A pop-up appeared stating "Error Connection problem occurred while trying to synchronize library. Please try again later". :icon_evil:
Try as I might I could not make it stop trying to sync. I cannot locate anyway to stop the sync.
I travel by airplane for business 2-5 days a week and need the Nook Reader to work in Airplane Mode. I love ebook readers as I can have many books with me and not take up weight or physical space.
