I was just wondering if with the droid or htc droid. Do you have to add the $20 in internet/data or will the wifi still work if you don't?

You don't need the data plan for wifi to work with either of those phones.

That being said, you can't buy one for the subsidized price (as in, the non-$500+ price) without getting the data plan. It's required.

You need the data plan period....

Unless your willing to pay full price for a crippled device. And by crippled I mean no cell service...
